Our partner, ABN AMRO Clearing, is a global leader in the domain of clearing, offering access to a wide range of listed instruments on markets across the globe.

IT is at the heart of their organization with more than 30 different product teams and 10 different platform teams that are trying to build the best products & services for their customers.

Their presence in important financial centers like Amsterdam, Chicago, Sydney, Singapore, Tokyo Hong Kong, London, Sao Paulo, Frankfurt and Iasi, allows them to effectively serve clients worldwide and maintain close proximity to their diverse customer base.

THE ROLE INVOLVES:

Our partner’s clients have a continuous drive for more insights in their data and position. As markets evolve fast, they must be able to give them their latest position in real time and at the same time offer the best user experience possible. This brings us to one of their main core applications – MICS, which is responsible for the functionalities like maintaining Reference Data, Trade Processing, Cash Bookings, Interest, Corporate Actions, Fees, Tax and more.

This application was built in 1994 and was constructed with Synon/2E, a development tool introduced to the market in 1974. Synon/2E is a proprietary tool now owned by Broadcom and once dominated the worldwide market for third-party development tools for the IBM i (formerly AS/400) platform. Now, with the gradual decrease in the usage of Synon, they must modernize their code base and convert it to the Free form RPGLE.

To further develop and modernize their core clearing systems, they're looking for new colleagues!

As part of their Core Clearing Services team, you play a key role in enhancing their Core Clearing application on IBM i Platform using RPGLE Free Format and Synon/CA2E technologies.

Your contributions not only strengthen the stability of one of the most reliable systems in Clearing but also drive its modernization to meet future demands. Through this work, you actively support our partner’s mission to remain a trusted partner in Clearing & Settlement.

They’re seeking someone with proven experience in software development. This can be demonstrated either through a university-accredited degree in fields such as Informatics or Computer Science, or through relevant professional experience and a portfolio of work in applicable technologies.

Additionally, a strong interest in automated testing and deployment practices is highly valued.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain applications using RPGLE Free Form on the IBM i platform.
• Enhance and support legacy applications developed in Synon CA 2E (Cool:2E).
• Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Perform code reviews, unit testing, and debugging to ensure high-quality deliverables.
• Integrate IBM i applications with internal and external systems using Rest APIs.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and contribute to sprint planning and retrospectives.

TECHNICAL PLAYGROUND:

• 4+ years of relevant experience on IBM i platform.
• Proficiency in RPGLE Free Form programming on IBM i.
• Proficiency to develop in CA2E (Synon).
• Strong command of SQL for data manipulation, reporting, and performance tuning.
• Familiarity with IBM i CL programming and job control.
• 2+ years of experience in Rest APIs.
• Knowledge of service programs, modules, and binding directories in RPGLE.
• Exposure to source control tools (e.g., Git, TurnOver, Aldon) in IBM i environments.

NICE TO HAVE: 

• 2+ years of experience with setting up CI/CD pipelines in IBM i.
• Basic knowledge of Python.
• Awareness of critical Agile concepts and principles.
• A demonstrated record of achievement in large technical projects.
• Ability to keep up with software development trends and innovation.
• Understanding of financial services and risk management in general.
• Relevant Bachelor’s/ Master’s degree.
