PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Our partner, ABN AMRO Clearing, is a global leader in the domain of Clearing, offering access to a wide range of listed instruments on markets across the globe.
IT is at the heart of their organization with more than 30 different product teams and 10 different platform teams that are trying to build the best products & services for their customers.
Their presence in important financial centers like Amsterdam, Chicago, Sydney, Singapore, Tokyo Hong Kong, London, Sao Paulo, Frankfurt and Iasi, allows them to effectively serve clients worldwide and maintain close proximity to their diverse customer base.
THE ROLE INVOLVES:
As an IT Solutions Data Architect, you play a crucial role in driving our customer’s business forward. You will be responsible for the design and governance of IT solutions with a focus on data and reporting (Data Platform, Data Analytics & Reporting, Market & Reference Data).
You will ensure the optimal use of the IT landscape and guide its transformation towards the defined future-state architecture. Our customer aims to leverage modern technologies both today and in the future.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Dealing with Complexity: ABN AMRO Clearing, our customer, operates as a bank in itself. As an IT Solution Data Architect, you are able to balance the short-term delivery of IT solutions with the long-term strategic goals that align with the overall architecture and business strategy.
2. Delivery: Our customer’s business lines are demanding. You can effectively discuss both the opportunities and constraints related to business requests. While business requirements are key, ensuring alignment with the IT architecture strategy is your responsibility - and is governed by you.
3. Technology: Our customer’s IT environment offers extensive opportunities to work on both tactical and strategic levels, particularly in areas such as DevOps, Cloud, and Data Streaming.
You will oversee the data and reporting landscape, and also inspire, involve, and activate the development teams through every change.
You will investigate, refine, and validate standards and strategic views with internal and external global stakeholders (e.g., product owners, business managers, IT managers, external authorities). You will support decision-making by creating, providing, and communicating clear architectural deliverables.
You will develop and maintain solution architectures in line with global target architecture, policies, security standards, and best practices - covering all layers from business services down to the underlying technology stack. Your work will contribute to enhancing the reliability, security, flexibility, quality, and cost efficiency of the global organization.
TECHNICAL PLAYGROUND:
You bring a unique combination of hands-on development experience and a passion for technology, combined with a strong interest in working within the global capital markets.
Your technical expertise is fully up to date - CI/CD, Cloud, and Microservices are second nature to you. At the same time, you understand that our customer’s systems must remain highly reliable and continuously operational, as markets, customers, and users depend on their stability and performance.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in the data and application domain within a comparably complex environment - including interactions with internal and external stakeholders, diverse IT landscapes, and collaboration across different time zones and cultures.
- Proven experience in IT architecture, with the ability to think at a conceptual level. You demonstrate strategic and analytical skills, and have the ability to inspire, influence, and activate others.
- Relevant experience in designing and implementing cloud-native data architectures, preferably using AWS services (e.g., S3, Redshift, Glue, Athena, EMR, RDS, DynamoDB).
- Strong knowledge of the various aspects of Data and IT architecture, including application functions, software development, application platforms, data structures and interaction patterns, data storage and retention strategies, and data security.
- Experience in establishing and enforcing data architecture standards, policies, and procedures.
- Proficiency in data modeling, data pipelines, and ETL/ELT processes.
- Awareness of security and privacy compliance practices, including relevant regulations such as GDPR.
- Experience in optimizing data storage and retrieval for both performance and cost efficiency.
- Knowledge of data management principles and best practices.
- Familiarity with data governance, metadata management, and data cataloging.
NICE TO HAVE:
- Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in architecture implementation methodologies and tools, such as TOGAF and ArchiMate.
- Solid understanding of Reference Data Management (RDM) and Master Data Management (MDM) principles and practices.
- Proven experience in evaluating and recommending new services and tools to enhance organizational data capabilities.
- Practical experience with data science, analytics, business intelligence, and related technologies.
- Demonstrated experience in collaborating with data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to define data requirements and ensure data quality and governance across the organization.
SOFT SKILLS:
- Fluent in English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong engineering mindset and a solid foundation in computer science, with a focus on doing the right thing.
- Exceptional interpersonal and assertive communication skills, combined with strong stakeholder management abilities.
- Proven problem-solving mindset and a drive for continuous learning and improvement in a complex, fast-changing environment.
