PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

Our partner, ABN AMRO Clearing, is a global leader in the domain of clearing, offering access to a wide range of listed instruments on markets across the globe.

IT is at the heart of their organization with more than 30 different product teams and 10 different platform teams that are trying to build the best products & services for their customers.

Their presence in important financial centers like Amsterdam, Chicago, Sydney, Singapore, Tokyo Hong Kong, London, Sao Paulo, Frankfurt and Iasi, allows them to effectively serve clients worldwide and maintain close proximity to their diverse customer base.

THE ROLE INVOLVES:

Our partner is expanding across the globe, seeking various levels of experience for their Python chapter. Within their Python chapter, the developers work on various Python projects across the globe.

As a Python Chapter Lead, you will join their Client Portal team, which is responsible for maintaining the interaction to the outside world for their clients, with multiple different Python endpoints & scripts for data processing. In this role, you will combine hands-on Python development with technical and people leadership responsibilities.

As this is a managerial position, you will also become HR responsible for a group of Python developers, supporting them in their growth to become the best version of themselves through coaching, feedback, and performance follow-up.

Within the role of Python Engineer, we seek familiarity with DevOps concepts (supporting the move to AWS and containerization/serverless concepts), but this specific role focuses primarily on Python development, combined with team coordination and leadership.

Responsibilities:

• Write clean, maintainable, and scalable Python code for various projects.

• Act as a technical point of contact and mentor for members of the Python chapter.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as front-end developers, product managers, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions.

• Conduct and oversee code reviews to ensure quality, consistency, and best practices across the team.

• Support team members in troubleshooting and debugging complex issues to maintain operational effectiveness.

• Ensure proper testing practices are followed, and that test coverage remains robust.

• Document code, procedures, and project milestones to maintain organizational transparency.

• Assist in planning, prioritization, and setting project milestones, ensuring delivery timelines are met.

• Contribute to team development activities, including onboarding, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement initiatives.

TECHNICAL PLAYGROUND:

• 7+ years of professional software development experience with Python.

• Demonstrated experience in a technical leadership or people management role is strongly preferred.

• Proficiency with source control tools like Git.

• Solid understanding of Pandas.

• Solid understanding of Data Modelling principles.

• Experience with PostgreSQL or Oracle.

• Familiarity with Kafka.

• Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.

• Knowledge of Docker or Kubernetes is a strong plus.

NICE TO HAVE:

• Solid understanding of frameworks like FastAPI or Flask.

• Background in large-scale (migration) projects or complex technical initiatives.

• Experience with Agile methodologies.

• Understanding of financial services, risk management, or related domains.

• University degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent field.

SOFT SKILLS:

• Fluent in English, with strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Strong engineering instincts and a solid understanding of computer science principles.
