THE ROLE INVOLVES:
The role involves owning and evolving Data Loss Prevention and Microsoft Purview Information Protection controls across our partner's organization, ensuring consistent protection of sensitive information while supporting diverse regional business needs.
The DLP Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day ownership, operation, and ongoing maturation of the data protection capabilities across their organization.
The DLP Specialist will take on an existing DLP and Information Protection setup, ensure it runs reliably as business-as-usual, and steadily improve its effectiveness and adoption over time.
Responsibilities:
Act as primary owner & the specialist of Microsoft Purview DLP and Information Protection controls.
Develop Information Protection roadmap and align with Data Security and regulatory requirements.
Lead the BAU initiative and perform regular policy tuning and optimization.
Collaborate with all business departments, data owners, IT, and security colleagues.
Lead continuous improvement of information classification and protection practices.
Expand and refine auto-labeling rules, label-based protection controls & end-user guidance and policy tips.
Mature the Information Protection capability while collaborating with the client stakeholders to identify and define encryption, MPIP (Microsoft Purview Information Protection) and IRM (Insider Risk Management) use cases.
Develop and implement DLP alert management and triage processes, incident handling, escalation and remediation processes.
Monitor DLP alerts and policy triggers, identify genuine risk, and reduce any false positives.
Ensure controls remain effective while minimizing impact on users and business processes.
Support audits, risk reviews, periodic control monitoring, and any regulatory activities by providing artifacts and control explanations.
Act as trusted subject-matter expert for data protection and classification.
Maintain documentation, such as processes, procedures, and training guides.
Contribute to roadmap planning such as implementation of Purview Insider Risk Management and prioritization for data protection improvements.
Develop and deliver training and awareness on Purview and DLP practices.
TECHNICAL PLAYGROUND:
5+ years of experience in Information Security/ Cybersecurity domain.
5+ years of extensive and hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview (DLP, Information Protection, Insider Risk Management).
Practical experience tuning policies, managing alerts, and supporting incidents.
Strong knowledge of data governance principles and best practices.
Ability to balance security, compliance, and user experience.
Experience with cloud platforms, particularly Microsoft Azure and AWS.
Strong understanding of Microsoft 365 collaboration and data-sharing patterns.
NICE TO HAVE:
Certifications: one or more among CISSP, CISM, Microsoft Certified: SC-401 is highly desirable.
Exposure to Microsoft 365 Copilot for Information Protection.
Exposure to related Purview capabilities (Audit, Compliance, Data Security Posture Management).
Experience in clearing/ settlement, banking, or financial services industry.
SOFT SKILLS:
Fluent English, with good written and verbal communication skills.
Strong instinct (do the right thing), a deep understanding of information/ cybersecurity, particularly in data security domain.
Strong interpersonal and assertive communication skills, great team member.
Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Desire to continuously learn and improve in a complex, rapidly evolving environment.
