PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

Our partner, ABN AMRO Clearing, is a global leader in the domain of clearing, offering access to a wide range of listed instruments on markets across the globe.

IT is at the heart of their organization with more than 30 different product teams and 10 different platform teams that are trying to build the best products & services for their customers.

Their presence in important financial centers like Amsterdam, Chicago, Sydney, Singapore, Tokyo Hong Kong, London, Sao Paulo, Frankfurt and Iasi, allows them to effectively serve clients worldwide and maintain close proximity to their diverse customer base.

THE ROLE INVOLVES:

We are looking for a Senior Python Engineer with a sharp eye for detail and deep technical expertise to play a key role in building and evolving our partner's solutions within their Client Instructing Team.

This role has a strong focus on serverless and container-based architecture and will involve working closely with other engineers to design, build, and operate reliable, secure, cloud-native systems.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Python, setting a high bar for code quality and craftsmanship.

• Build and operate solutions on AWS, with a strong focus on serverless services (e.g. Lambda, DynamoDB, SNS, SQS, API Gateway, Step Functions, etc.).

• Implement and manage infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (AWS CDK and/or CloudFormation is preferred but not mandatory).

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, secure, and well-architected solutions.

• Ensure reliability, quality, performance, and security of applications, with meticulous attention to detail.

• Actively participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and architectural decisions.

• Troubleshoot issues in development and production environments and contribute to continuous improvement.

TECHNICAL PLAYGROUND:

• 6+ years of software development experience with Python

• Proven experience with working on AWS using IaC (CDK/ CloudFormation preferred but not mandatory)

• Proven experience with SQL and Database technologies

• Proven experience with container-based architectures (Docker, ECS, Fargate, or EKS)

• Experience with source control tools like Git

• Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines

NICE TO HAVE:

• Previous Tech Lead experience (formal or informal)

• Good knowledge of event-driven or streaming platforms, such as Kafka

• Knowledge of containerization technologies like Docker/ Kubernetes

• Awareness of critical concepts in DevOps and Agile principles

• Understanding of financial services and risk management in general

• University degree in Computer Science/Engineering

SOFT SKILLS:

• Fluent English, with strong written and verbal communication skills

• Strong engineering mindset and solid understanding of computer science fundamentals

• Exceptional attention to detail: thorough in code reviews, design documents, and production operations

• Good interpersonal and communication skills; comfortable working in a team environment

• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities

• Ability to take ownership, deliver results, and work independently when needed

• Willingness to continuously learn and grow in a fast-moving technical environment
