THE ROLE INVOLVES:
The ABN AMRO Clearing Observability Platform block provides the strategic platform for monitoring, alerting, log collation and SOC capability for the AACB infrastructure and applications.
Their application expertise is mainly with Splunk, but it is useful to know other monitoring technologies such as Prometheus, Grafana, Elastic Search or Open Telemetry.
The Observability Stream is essential in providing the insight, both reactive and predictive, into the AACB infrastructure and application landscape.
They are a global DevOps team working within the Agile Scrum methodology to deliver their platform as efficiently and autonomously as possible while ensuring it remains easy to use.
The team is highly skilled, customer focused and driven to succeed in some very complex technologies.
We are looking for additional Platform Engineers with relevant skills, knowledge and experience that enjoy complex challenges and like helping customers to deliver their goals. The goal is to help deliver compliant, reliable, flexible global solutions to meet the demands and service levels of the business, ensuring great performance of the environments.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and support the Observability platforms.
- Architect, implement, develop and configure current and new Platform solutions across business lines where required.
- Write and maintain automation scripts and configuration management tooling.
- Embed security into the platforms and ensure compliance with all bank policies and internal/external regulations.
- Work with the architecture team to provide technical expertise to define and implement a global infrastructure to support existing and future projects.
- Provide expertise to the Development Services team and teams within the Product Grid regarding the technology and its usage, covering best practices for business solutions.
- Act as a point of contact when dealing with third-party support, including escalating issues.
- Liaise with global teams to ensure problems are resolved swiftly and satisfactorily.
- Participate in High Availability and Disaster Recovery tests.
TECHNICAL PLAYGROUND:
- 4+ Years of experience as Observability/Monitoring Engineer within DevOps.
- Extensive experience with Observability/Monitoring platforms and solutions: architecture, system administration and data administration.
- Experience working with onboarding telemetry data, dashboards and advanced search including surrounding technologies.
- Experience with Splunk Observability solutions.
- Experience working with AWS public cloud services.
- Strong experience in working within a Linux environment.
- Experience with scripting languages like Python or Golang.
NICE TO HAVE:
- Experience with Java could be considered an advantage.
- Experience working with AWS CDK.
- Awareness of critical concepts in DevOps and Agile principles.
- A demonstrated record of achievement in large technical (migration) projects.
- Ability to keep up with software and cloud development trends and innovation.
- Understanding of financial services and risk management in general.
- University degree in Computer Science/Engineering.

- Fluent English, with good written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong engineering instinct (do the right thing), a deep understanding of computer science.
